The Bahrain Grand Prix was held at as-Sachir on 3 April 2005 and covered a distance of 57 laps of 5.41 km each, giving a total distance of 308.523 km.
Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari F2005 started the race from second position. It was the first race for his new company car, the F2005 of Scuderia Ferrari. But the first race did not go too well. After a technical defect, Schumacher retired from the race. The winner was Fernando Alonso in the Renault, ahead of Jarno Trulli in the Toyota and Kimi Räikkönen in the McLaren-Mercedes.
